FM40 STYLE | THE JACKET THAT NEVER DATES

A JACKET THAT NEVER DATES

L's favourite bedtime story is the Coco Chanel book from the Little People Big Dreams collection (it's mine too) and it's funny to think that Coco's designers were considered daring in the days of corsets and long dresses, but how they have stood the test of time.

A Chanel tweed jacket is the dream item for me ...... just stunning.

You don't have to break the bank to obtain a beautiful boucle, tweed jacket French brands such as IRO, Maje and of course Isabel Marant do fabulous jackets.  The FashionJackson here wearing her IRO Shavani and Carene jacket (I have the carene jacket in blue and totally recommend)

KEEP IT ON TREND

Keep the look modern by wearing your jacket with pale denim or over a slogan tee,  I still love this particular slogan tee...

IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY

Zara is usually the master of the Chanel Jacket homage, I have a black one that is years old ..... I think maybe 14 years old to be precise that I picked up in the Zara sale for about £19. Other high street stores are also delivering great Chanel-esq jackets, this one from River Island is a beauty.

    1. Ive got more than average boobage too (32G, size 12 and petite to boot), I have two jackets that are reminiscent of chanel.
For me it's finding a jacket in a tweed material, rather than an exact copy. Both of mine have round necks, one with collar, one without - on paper they shouldn't work, but they do - maybe because I never fasten them. They are both cropped, which suits my petite frame. I'm careful to avoid longer length styles, as they feel more frumpy (they look great on taller women though).
I'd say go for a shape that you know suits you, a v-neck should work. Boden regular jackets are too big for on the shoulders for me so I also buy petite there, but In Wear only do regular sizing and are are fine on the shoulders, but the sleeves need turning up.

    2. Hi ... I am big busted 34E and find these work for me. The trick is not too go too cropped or boxy. There is no need to fasten them as they are normally edge to edge and if they don't meet that's OK just ensure the jacket fits you nicely on your shoulders with a nice tee shirt under neath it will still look good.
Another tip is to go for a more cardigan style material the IRO ones are like this, especially the Shavani one. The Maje one would be perfect for anybody with a fuller figure as it covers your bum ...
Just try and you will be surprised, any of my recommendations above in my edit would work for me and I have big boobs too.

  2. You could also take a look at Massimo Dutti, they do wonderful tweed jackets.

  3. Anne-Marie, what size is your iro Carene jacket please? I'm somewhere between a 10 and 12 and always find French sizes on the petite size. I'm thinking a 40 would be right?
