FM40 Style - Shopping Updates
Before my trip to Spain, I spotted this gorgeous dress in Zara and I thought oh how pretty, but where I am going to wear it?
When I walked into Zara in Barcelona, there it was again.
The English price was £79.99, the Spanish price, 69.99 euros and with the euro rate to the pound being very good at the moment this dress couldn't be left, plus I have an occasion to wear it now the May ball at Hubby's golf club, it also looks great dressed down with tan strappy sandals for an evening on holiday later on in the year.
Also before I went away, I had a little online ordering frenzy, ordering pretty white tops that I featured in this post, here. This one I was waiting for it to come back into stock, what can I say this top is a keeper, very Izzy and Chloe like and I am looking forward to styling it with my Isabel Marant Glenn jacket and also the HUSH MILITARY JACKET £55 that I have on back order.
I also ordered this one from H&M, this unfortunately didn't work with my big bust, I loved it front on, but when I looked at myself side on, I just looked slightly pregnant. Such a shame as it is a very pretty top and the quality excellent for £10. The third top was this one from Warehouse, I thought out of all three this may be the one I would be returning, not so, the quality is lovely, the lace very pretty. As I mentioned in the previous post it is very reminiscent of the Roseanna tops Clara from the working girl wears layered under Breton tops and knits, this is an item of clothing I lack, layering items, as I don't do cami tops, yes I have t-shirts that I can pop under things, but this top gives me that prettiness peek-a-boo I was after.
Finally, I have been trying to locate this sold out top that I spotted in Zara in Liverpool in March, admired it, even took a picture of it, tried it on, loved it, then made the mistake of thinking I had something similar (which I do) and I left it there.
I had a glimmer of hope that I would find it in Barcelona...... no ........ you snooze, you lose.
Thank you for reading and for your comments.

Annmarie I bought the Zara top in Liverpool Zara on Tuesday if you are lucky they may have some left. I to had seen it in store a few weeks back, fully expected them not to have it again this week but my luck was in.
ReplyDeleteRight I need to get to Liverpool, wasn't planning to with it being kids holidays may have to send my mum. Thanks for the tip off. Xx
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI saw this top in the Zara Oxford Street shop this week!
x
They must of replenished stock in stores, it's nowhere to be seen online. Thanks :)
DeleteSome great buys Annemarie, I've also purchased the white embroidery top - it's gorgeous isn't it.
ReplyDeleteJane xx
Very pretty Jane, I think it looks better on than the hanger. X
DeleteZara is really good value in Spain at the moment isn't it. I had to stop myself from another visit when we were there over Easter as there was no way I was fitting anything else in my carry on luggage and I didn't fancy being slapped with a 50 euro Ryanair surcharge. Love love love the dress and looking forward to seeing how you style it xx
ReplyDeleteYour bargains would be pointless then wouldn't they. X
DeleteFunny how things work on one person and not another. The Zara top is lovely but didn't suit me at all and shame about the H&M one. And the last Zara top - I actually bought and returned. I tried one on in store and it was very nice and it had a small click in it and I changed it for another without trying and went and paid. When I got it home, it was the wonkiest hemline ever - one side was visibly shorter than the other. So back it went and I haven't seen it in store since though admittedly I haven't looked. I basically have to stop buying pretty tops!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a lovely dress you picked up there. I saw it and thought it was beautiful and recommended it to another lady but unfortunately it didn't fit her well. I guess it's the luck of the draw.
I absolutely loved the H&M one on you, but it didn't suit me. Yes you are right not everything suits everybody As the Zara one looks a lot better on me. I need to get back into Liverpool and Manchester to see if it's in store, that may be a job next week when the kids go back. I did similar with the dress, tried the L far too big, tried the M but found loose threads put that one back and just picked another M up that looked perfect and I coundnt try it on as my 3 none Shoppers where stood outside, I was panicking that it wouldnt be a nice fit like the original M I tried on as Zara can be differ across the same size.... Fingers crossed it was fine. X
DeleteI love the white top! EveWornOut just blogged about the khaki version so it's obviously going to sell out again! xx
ReplyDeleteQuick Joanna if you like it, some sizes are on email alert again, which I used last time. It's a great little top X
DeleteThat Zara white dress is gorgeous, it will look stunning, like you say with strappy sandals. I am slightly obsessed with white tops I have the last Zara one bought it a little while ago but haven't got round to wearing it yet. Hope you find one. Love the Warehouse top, this year there are so many fab tops and sandals around... Too much to buy!! Glad you enjoyed Barca it looked gorgeous, I am going to pop over there soon desperate to see my sisters and drink wine on the beach! Xxxx
ReplyDeleteI just need to get into either Manchester or Liverpool to check, annoyed with myself I should of purchased it when I saw it. The dress however makes up for the loss of the top, I have just ordered some new tan strappy sandals, so looking forward to styling them with the dress. You are so lucky to have your Sisters in Barca to visit, we love it there!! x
DeleteThis dress has been on my wish list for awhile! Also loving Zara's long white skirt this season. So many gorgeous things, so little money 😍
ReplyDeleteI know, my wish list is along as my arm! x
DeleteIt is from the TFR range Carol, which I always find runs smaller than the Zara Women range which I am a M, in TFR and this top I got a Large which is a 12 I would say. xx
ReplyDeleteI have been eagerly awaiting this post as was longing to know about your shopping successes or otherwise! Your trip to Barca looked fab and I love your white Zara dress – it is so so pretty. I admired it in store this week (where I also saw the elusive black/white top boho top, so they have definitely restocked). I had a similar experience to Sue with the Trafaluc top - not flattering; it was boxy on me and made me look top heavy. So annoying as it's so pretty and I SO wanted to love it and in fact tried it on about 25 times in the hope that it would suddenly and miraculously look a lot better...but it didn't! So back it went yesterday. I also tried and failed to love the Warehouse top...I put it on and look at it and think hmm yes lovely lace but I look like a rectangle...sob. So that's going back too. At least that's £58 back into the clothes kitty, I suppose. The H&M top, however, was good – very flattering neckline and yes a bit pouffy but certainly no more so than Love Sam and fine with skinny jeans. And, just as you said, surprisingly good quality. Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine! Axx
ReplyDeleteYes, I loved the H&M and you are right in that it's similar to the lovesam top and I compared it to that when I tried it on 25 times, I thought I was alone in doing that..... He he, I just wasn't 100%. The Warehouse one I prefer with a jacket over to take the rectangle look away from it, I am just on the Clara layering obession with this one. I am loving my Zara dress. Have a lovely weekend too. Xx
DeleteI am dithering about the Warehouse one now...have tried it under a jacket and you are right, it does look very pretty. But then what if it's really hot and I have to whip off the jacket to reveal me looking like spongebob squarepants??! By the way, went to Bicester Village yesterday on a mission to find a Burberry trench...have been thinking about yours and have suddenly realized it is the one item I need more than any other in the whole world and which would mysteriously conceal the extra 5lb I am carrying and instantaneously transform me into a chic Parisienne....sadly they only had six 'Burberry London' heritage trenches there and they were all size 14 and above. Apparently they sometimes get a handful but you have to be lucky. I'm either going to have to go there every weekend or rob a bank!
DeleteOh if in doubt return it, that is now my moto. The Burberry obession has made me laugh I use to always pop into their outlet store in Cheshire oaks when I visited. I was never lucky, no 10 or 12 to be seen in a short one, in navy and black, yes. I then got a nice 30% discount code of my wardrobe around my 40th which made it a little more purse friendly. X
DeleteWith hush, yes I have their white v neck slightly squarish (looks better with a messy tuck) but washes like a dream. Baujken, no far too clingy for me, loved the pregnancy ruffle ones, but the mainline tees I didn't like. X
ReplyDeleteOooh that lace dress will look stunning on you Annmarie! I love the embroderie anglaise top too! I am off to the Canary Islands in a few weeks so I am saving myself for anymore Zara/Mango purchases until then! ;0) xx
